I used 3M tadpole stove gasket material on stoves. Wow what a difference in how little smoke on glass.

We tried and did a better job cleaning the stove, also I put new door gasket on, also crimped tighter the vacuum switch wires. Seems to run fine now for last36 hours or so. And the smoke buildup on glass is now back to a minimum. Happy happy thanks Kap

After running all night on the low setting, I got up this morning and bumped it up to medium. After a half hour, it went out. So I put it on low and hit reset. Its been running for a hour again with no problem. Any ideas?

Update: It seems to run fine on the low setting, but quits feeding pellets on med or high and shuts down.

Oh my gosh, I hope this wintery cold weather comes to a end soon. One of the Sante Fe's is down again. Every since I put in a new off brand exhuast motor, I have a dirtier glass than normal. Don't know if it has to do with the latest problem but here it goes: The stove lights well but only stays lite for ten minutes to 2 hours, then shuts off. It usually only stays lite for a short time and then shuts off. When I put the new exhuast motor in, I put the fan blade way down the shaft, close to the motor. Could that be the problem? Or is it something else. When we hit the reset it lites again.

Wow, Kap you know when I told you I would work on it this weekend. Well I should have checked with the wife first cause she thought that there was "no time like the present" to fix it.
I cleaned the vacuum hose and crimped the wires ends tighter, then ran a wire up the pellet drop shoot and got allot of pellet dust out. Turned it back on and it works. I'm happy and more importantly, the wife is happy.
thaanks Kap, you the man !

Could be a number of things. Blockage in drop chute, dirty vac switch hose, or the nipple on drop tube it hooks to. Try jumping the vac switch wires together to see if it starts working. We'll go from there. Kap
Thanks Kap for the advice. I will try and work on it this weekend. You are appreciated.

You can get your hand back into the exhaust fan and spin it to make sure it's clear. I guess you don't have to now.
What motor did you put on it? Same RPM and HP? I ask because this could be related to your glass suddenly getting dirty quicker. Not as much air flow, for instance. Maybe it's running backwards too???
I had read in a previous post about someone using a offbrand exhaust motor. Because it was less money, I went with it. I think it cost maybe 80.00 or so. It is made by Rotom canada. HB-RBM120 3000RPM .60amps It seems to work well with the exception of the slightly dirtier glass. I never thought about it running backwards. Im not sure how to test that.

It is snowing again here in Michigan. Not sure if it is the last snow of the 2012 season or first snow of the 2013 season. Anyways, when I turned on one of the Sante Fe stoves today, it powers up but does not drop any pellets. The startup seems normal with the exception of no pellets dropping. We did lose electricity today for a bit. Maybe that tripped something. Any ideas?

Heavy smoke on glass

I believe we have had this particular Sante Fe stove for about 6 years. Every morning when we do a quick clean-up of the ash, we spray a little windex onto a paper towel and clean what little bit of smoke that is on the glass door. Now all of a sudden the glass door has a heavy film of brown caked on ashy smoke. Especially bad on the right side. We have to use steel wool with windex on it, to cut through the grim. Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me if stove door tadpole gasket material Hytex-1000 1/2" psa will work for the seal around the glass door. It is a product that came up in my Ebay search when I put in tadpole gasket. It figures out to 2.70 a foot for 10' on Ebay. It looks the same as Quadrafire's tadpole gasket material.

I went to my local Quadrafire dealer yesterday to buy a exhaust blower gasket. He wanted 25.00. That is sooooo rediculas. I want to support our local dealer, but I don't want to fly him and his family to Disneyland.

Does anyone know how far away the blades have to be away from the metal plate? The blades are adjustable up and down the shaft and tightened with a set screw.

Well I believe I figured it out. Not fixed yet, but figured it out. I used a offbrand exhaust blower when i did this repair. I had to take the plate and impeller blades off the old exhaust blower and put it on the new one. I tested the blower before installing and all was well. Now that it is together installed into the stove, with the stove unplugged, when I run 120 to the new installed fan, it just humms. I believe I have to move the impeller blades on the new fan either in or out because they are hitting something that I cannot see inside the stove.
