My professional opinion is you should have installed the stove in a heated part of the house . If I did that here in Ontario it would not perform. Solid burning stoves only kick out 150 degree heat at the furnace and with a 800 cfm blower what little heat would be lost in the duct work.Hopefully in the Boston area the winters are mild.

Hello Sandman is this a new stove? If it is a used stove One reason for pot floods is dirt under the feed wheel. If the wheel is lifted by fines the air will bypass the firepot. Usually have this trouble happens when burning corn or grain not wood pellets. I take it the stove is level and the deflector is positioned properly so the pellets drop evenly in the pot.

Hello wild and Tall. One thing about the scf50 it is a small furnace . It is not a fireplace u put in the corner of yr livingroom. If you look at the bottom of the door there is a small slit for fresh air to leak in. That is why you get a narrow area on your glass that stays sort of clean.I wouldn't get too excited over keeping the glass clean. In regards to other stoves not burning on level 5. half of the stoves after a year or 2 need gaskets to be reworked or changed. A good way to check for leaks is use smoke from a wick while the stove is running and look for smoke getting sucked into the stove.

Your going to have drafts in your house no matter what is going on. That makes sense though Tall . I still like a hotter stove . most homes have a hole 18 inchs of drafts you may as well heat it with a hot stove.

You don't have to draw air from outside unless you have a ultra modern r 2000 house. I prefer to use inside air on any of my stoves. Heating inside increases the heat output on the stove. I have sold St Croix's for 6 yrs now. Two auburns should cook you on a house that size. What part of the world are you and what kind of insulation do you have?

Hello the moisture is most likely from the corn. With any solid burning cornstove venting has to be kept to a minimum. One thing is if your pipe is leaking water your venting connection is leaking fumes as well. You need to seal your pipes. I am not familiar with your setup but the horizontal pipe through the wall should be level or slightly sloped down to drain any condensation outside the house . Where the exhaust meets the cold air.

It was good you found the problem. In the book fan maintenance is monthly depending on your fuel. Once you notice the airflow slowing take a look at inner working of the stove.

How did you make out Jallen with your stove install? In Ont, building code will only allow for vertical installs only.
