I will throw in my thoughts on pure pellets. I have the pellet kit from Stateline Corn Burners.
- I hate bags. Corn in buckets is a lot nicer and easier to handle.
- My furnace keeps going way above the burn pot. I scrape the clinker tool around the edges twice a day when I come in from chores and it still builds up REALLY hard ash on the bottom.
- Corn is hotter. The house is warmer and nicer when I burned corn or a mix.
- Mixes burn better with less ash and less problems.

Couldn't you get a 4 rpm and a variable speed drive? The major problem I see is you are tied down to 1:4 mix.

What is the temp of the water returning to the boiler?

I was just thinking the same thing. I have 10 bushels of pellet/corn mix that I would like to get burnt up. Those stupid pellets like to absorb water and I don't need a corn buffet for the mice all summer long. Hopefully we get a couple weeks where I can burn it up.
Done for the year?

Has anybody seen smoke in the house problems? My dealer mentioned a person he is going to see this weekend that had a smoke smell in the house all the time. We were wondering if this is because the fire smolders too much??? Maybe because it doesn't go on high fire enough to get a clean burn. I would assume that wouldn't be a problem if you had enough draft and good seals.

Hi Sflem849, currious about the "TROL" myself. You may want to post in LMF forum too, as this is an option on LMF products. Let's see who responds. Kind of slow here lately.

I figured I would just go here since the LMF forum only has four posts total. I actually have a LMF.

I agree. Sure has been slow since the switch to the new forum. Probably doesn't hurt that natural gas is down and corn is way up.

I would love to hear more about it. There sure was plenty of talk when it came out, but seems pretty quiet now. Seems to me it would take a long time to save $400 but if it is more convienient it would be worth something.

Edit - I forgot to mention a guy approched my corn burner dealer trying to get a LMJ/LDJ super cheap to try out a different version of the corntrol. My dealer didn't know much about it, but thought it was going to be a hybrid of the corntrol and that mod where you put the extra timer in to stop long high fire periods.

A few people have spend the money to get one and have a season or two on them now. Are they worth it? Do you notice using less fuel? More even heat?

I would guess your holes were a little plugged up and when you cleaned them out you cleaned up the holes. It is probably burning like it should now. I run mine pretty high in the pot. I would say right at the top holes. I usually can't see them all.

Stopped by Tractor Supply this AM. they are still $5.99/bag or $289.50/ton. Must have had 40+ pallets of them in warehouse. Made comment they had a lot of pellets.Clerk said sale are slow on pellets. Ya think so at the price they want??

John

They are trying to keep up with the price of corn.

That would put the price of corn at $8.11/bu at $289.50/ton

today our local corn market is $6.12/bu or $218.50/ton

I take it you were using $/lb? Don't forget they don't have the same BTUs and you are a lot more accurate doing the math as $/btu.

I bet their bagged corn is $8.11/bu or more.

I bought my last pallet at Lowes for 185 which is far from their dream of 230 earlier in the season.

Yeah, that would be the valve you would need...Mine is different. I tried to find a decent picture of mine, but I couldn't find it. Mine doesn't have a flange thing on BOTH sides.

My valve had nothing to attatch to on one side. I had to bolt the plate one what would be the top side in my picture. I can see how you would use a rubber coupler (like on my top side) but there is nothing to attatch it to.

My LDJ came with one. any RV place can help you out. Just a 3" waste valve.

How did you attatch it to the bin?

That is why I put it on there. I don't usually empty the bin, but it would still spill a lot less corn. I usually jam a rag or stocking hat or pellet bag or something in the bin to minimize my corn loss.

I can get you in touch with my dealer. I know he made a special plate that you have to bolt onto the slide valve. He ships parts all over for LMF furnaces/boilers so I'm sure he could ship these.

I found a used 2100 model for $250 with a few pipes. Is this something I should look into? I have not seen what a new one would cost. This one is 5 years old.

Went to my corn burner dealers today and got a setup to shut off the corn flow at the hopper. It is pretty sweet so I had to show it off. I don't think I have seen one yet.

The 3" rubber coupler mounts to the tank and the valve. Then the valve mounts to the stock directional Y at the bottom of the hopper.
