Here's a Rat story for you. I was back behind a grocery store and saw a couple employee's and a couple of vendors focused on a pallet leaned up against a wall. One guy grabbed the rat by the tail and tossed it down the sidewalk. It stunned the rat and the bread guy screamed out "STEP ON IT, STEP ON IT" the store employee said "Iam not going to step on it. You step on it" So guess what the bread guy did....STOMP STOMP. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing....

I took the rural route one dark night home from work. I passed the dump and saw something similair. I actually called 911 thinking there was a huge fire at the dump. They told me this was normal and people always call thinking there is a fire...lol.

Me personally I wouldn't be putting anything in my hopper. Some of the stuff mentioned I would be concerned with flammability. And the heat and fumes coming back into the hopper and starting a huge fire. Someone is going to end up burning their house down if they aren't careful. I may be over exaggerating, but I would rather err on the side of caution.
I just make it a habit to opent the lid and move things around with my hand.

I guess I should consider myself to be lucky, I don't notice a ticking sound. Iam sure that the wife would have caught it by now and said something to me about about it. Anything that ticks and has repetition sends her over the edge....lol.

"Wood Henge" is about 96,000,000 Btu and I used about 155,000,000 Btu last year. I have 1.5 ton in garage. We keep house warm. They will stay there till used. I bring in 8 bags at a time. I'm putting another R22 in attic on the R30 something that is already there. We will see if we can bring the Btu's down some
I plan on adding more insulation as well. Problem I have is time. I have plenty of pellets for this year. Figured out last year where to have everything set to get the best efficiency. I used to pick up no more than 3 tons at a time, but now should be able to haul 5 to 6. Which should be plenty for myself, and anybody else in the family that needs pellets. Shouldn't have to make that trip till next summer.

If a dam breaks is the problem that the valley is flooded or the reservoir is dry? Which is it Binford?
We just ask Occam and he tells us what it is, more than likely his explanation is anthropogenic global warming.

I have had that problem in the past, then later on for some odd reason I was able to edit. I don't know what to tell you or how to fix it. Just that at one time it worked, quit working for a while. Tried again later (a few weeks) and it worked.

I know I have had projects that have caused me headaches as well. I end up walking away from it for a while and then coming back to it, sometimes a day or two later. I find that as I get frustrated my mind at times just runs in a circle, and I have a hard time thinking outside the box, as they say. I have even at times solicited the wifes help. Sometimes she makes me look bad and resolves my frustrations fairly quick. Sometimes having someone else take a look helps. Good luck.

I have a brush attached to 10 foot handle, but have a hard time feeding handle through the pipe. So I use an electrical fish tape and feed it from the outside in, then tape it to my brush and pull it all back outside.

"The electric wires for the exteranl fan are in a high-temp cover and run between the 3 inch stainless steel exhaust tube and inside the 5 inch galvanized outer pipe. The wires then would come out through the hole in the heat shield and the wires have a grommet to seal the balance of the hole."
Not trying to be sarcastic, but I guess Iam not getting what your trying to ask. To me the above instructions that were copied and pasted from the above link seem pretty straight forward.

www.pelletstovefires.com/horizontal-venting.html
Any horizontal run should have a rise of 1/4 of an inch for every foot.
The advantage of putting a small rise in the design of your pellet stove venting is that in case of a shutdown due to lack of fuel, electrical or mechanical failure, natural heat convection will remove the gases. Otherwise there's a chance that they might filter back into the house.
Copied and pasted from the above link.

1/4 inch slope per foot is what I have always known whether it being venting an appliance or running plumbing. My opinion is that I wouldn't slope it downward on the outside. Any condensation that would accumulate I would think that it would evaporate before it returned to the appliance. NG appliances slope in a continous upward motion to vent the gases and there is condensation when burning a NG appliance. By code this was the requirement when I built my house.

Did you do that in RAW or JPEG? I like to do my pictures in RAW but find that there is a lot of work to be done afterwards. I guess as I get better it will become easier.
What kind of setup did you use to take that picture? I know there are a couple of different ways. And did you use a Photoshop program to stack your images, or is there another way that Iam unaware of? I have Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3. I have experimented with HDR images but have never stacked 20... together. Sounds like a lot of time and work.
Thanks again for sharing your image and knowledge.
