Well we just fired up one of our corn stoves.
Sure feels good. We had been just putting on
more clothes during the cold snap. Finally
bit the bullet and fired up the stove.
Remember to do your service on the stoves and
they will give you trouble free service. I've
got to replace the stirrer shaft bushing on
one of our stoves. I have the parts just need
to find time between harvest and running our
business.

As Tall Corn said, wood pellets make starting
the fire easy. We use a propane torch to start
our wood pellets. I have a couple around for
other uses. One tank lasts two years.

We service most makes / models, but I do not
have direct experience with any other brands
or models. I only get involved when there is
a problem.
I'm sure someone else will pop in and help
with giving some sound advice on other brands.

A little know secret is that there is a
fuse in the power supply box (black).
I believe it has 4 screws in it.
Unplug everything and remove the cover from
the power supply and you will see the fuse.
Check fuse, replace if blown.

We have ran 4 AES Countryside stoves for almost 10
years. We have done the normal maintenance / repairs.
The stoves have paid for themselves many times over.
As with everything in this world you don't get something
for nothing.
I don't know about so many parts. Stoves that run 100% corn
will go thru stirrers every 1 - 2 seasons (depending on how
high heat setting. Stoves that run wood pellets will be
better and stoves that have the deep fire pot don't use
stirrers.
Exhaust blowers / room fan blowers usually do not get
lubricated so this shortens the life of them. We
standby the recommendation that the stoves get a full
service twice a year / heating season.
Hope this help!!

Well during the depression they sure did burn
ear corn for heat. I remember when I was little
my uncle putting ear corn in their stoves.
Not sure of the complications, but I'm sure if
you talk to some old timers you will find it made
great heat.

The harvester thermostat will only control the
heat from setting #1 low fire to what ever the
heat setting you have it on.
It will not turn on and off.
Quote from manual,
"A thermostat option is available for the Harvester. Once installed, the thermostat option will adjust the
Harvester burn between Heat #1 (thermostat calls for no heat) and somewhere between Heat#1 and Heat #5
setting (thermostat calls for heat), depending on what homeowner has on set control board."
Hope this helps!!!

I have been thinking (dangerous) about the problem
with the starch building up on the stirrer shaft.
For those of us who used corn, has anyone given an thought
to trying ceramic rod???
I know someone sometime back had some thoughts
about coating the stirrer shaft with a ceramic
material.
I see some 3/8 ceramic rod on Ebay pretty cheap.

Hi Skeptic
Sorry to hear that your stove is not producing as it should.
I don't know alot about these stoves, but just done
a complete maintenance on one about a month ago.
We also put the negative draft fan on the stove.
While we had it we also modified the auger.
The new augers have continuous fliting, no gap
in the auger.
You might check yours.
The guy we purchased the fan kit from told us we could
just cut the welds on the old auger and move the fliting
ends together and re weld.
The stove we done runs really great on pellets.
When we installed the stove we also made sure it
had the fresh air piped outside.
We also found that tube / chamber behind the fire
pot was full of corn and pellets which blocked the
air to the fire pot.
Hope this helps!!

The first thing I would do is get the fire burning correctly.
The reason the fan is turning on and off is that you are moving
too much air thru the heat exchanger and cooling it down.
This is hard on the stove.
The air flow thru the heat exchanger should be set with a
air flow gauge by a HVAC guy.
"Minimum hot air outlet static
pressure .2-.4 inches of water
column. Temperature rise set to
135-150 deg. F."
Hope this helps!

In a little defense of the Delong Company.
We purchase about 1/2 of the products for
our store from Delong.
You are correct that they are higher price,
but we have our customers tell us all the
time that they would rather pay the higher
price rather than go to the Big Box store
and get sub standard product.
Another thing that helps us is that Delong
backs their product 100% No questions asked.
One can save alot of $$$ by purchasing corn
from a farmer or ??? and clean it your self.

If you burn corn at $6.00, as opposed to propane at $2.00 / Gal
you still save 40% on fuel cost.
5 gal propane = 1 bu corn.
