Welcome. There are quite a few people here by Green Bay that use wood pellets or biomass to heat with. I am located about 15 miles west of Green Bay. Hope your new project goes well for you.

The OAK really doesn't need to be airtight in my opinion. The outside air will really only be drawn in if there is negative pressure. If you shutdown your stove, you may feel a slight cold draft from it, but not a significant one. Probably no more than the cold felt next to a window from its heat loss. The idea with the OAK is to bring in outside air to use for the combustion blower. With the OAK, you are using cold air for combustion. Without it, you would be using the heated air from inside your home and that air would be drawn in from any air leaks that you have around doors or windows. You are just controlling where the air for the combustion blower will come from. Whether you are using heated air from you home or cold outside air.

Happy burning

Test weight was good here this year. It also helps a lot being 12% moisture. The drier, the hotter it will burn. There is less water to burn off.

I don't think that my problem is with leaking gaskets. I think that it is more related to wind speed and direction. It seems to occur the most when the wind is stronger and out of a certain direction. My venting exits up through the roof and I think that when the wind is from a certain direction, it creates pressure on the vent cap and the gasses cannot ventilate properly during ignition. The vent cap is 3' above the roof where it penetrates through, but is below the roof peak.

Thanks Farmer, I appreciate that info! Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel. In the mean time I turned the combustion blower voltage up all the way.

I turned mine up as well. I am hoping that it will also help when my boiler sometimes "explodes" as it ignites. I am thinking that the extra air will help clear out some of the gases before it ignites.

How long are the pellets? Some brands run much longer lengths than others. I have seen some where at least half of the bag was 1" or longer.

This is what Wil had posted on another forum on 10/06/2012.

The new burnpot with the fins DIDNOT resolve the issue. About 6 weeks ago I had a group of three including a engineer from Harman along with the local Harman dealer visit checking out my boiler. After checking everything one of the harman reps (not the engineer) thought the reason for the bubble was not enough air passing through the burnpot. I wasn't to impressed with the engineer when he mentioned that " nothing jumped out at him " as reasoning why this bubble occurs. The rep adjusted the draft (white screw) on the controller for the combustion blower so it gets full voltage for maximim RPM all the time, so much for this being used as a draft adjustment per owners manual. It had been adjusted to spec from the owners manual. I should be receiving another burnpot with a different grade stainless (more heat resistant) burning surface plus the burning surface will be a heavier guage in a couple weeks to try. I have noticed that the bubble that had started to form on the present burnpot, it hasn't got any worse since the tech adjusted the controller for maximum RPM. Could it be not enough air going through the burnpot created by adjusting the draft to spec, I'm thinking it is, the reason that some owners of the PB 105's and PF100's are not having the burnpot bubble issue.

Roasted a squash, some potatoes, and grilled a ribeye yesterday on mine. I love the flavor that the pellet grill gives the squash. I will never bake one in an oven again.

My wife still loves the pellet grill and she has never used it yet

Installed another new burnpot today. Date of mfg was 09/12/11. Was the same design and materials as the last burnpot. The plate with the holes in was stainless just like the last one. It did not have any of the extra plates welded on the backside like the photos from Wil above.

Well, the last burn pot that I had installed in March is cracked already. There isn't much of a bubble formed, mostly a crack across 3 holes.

I will take burn pot back to dealer for a new one in the next week or so. Hopefully Harman will have a new improved version to try again.

I have not heard if they found a material to withstand the temperatures for the burn pot yet. I will ask my dealer when I get the new burn pot.

See if the new burn pot helps. The last time I replaced the burn pot, the boiler was having a tough time igniting with the crack in the pot. After the new pot was installed, I didn't have any issues even with the same ignitor. I think that the air was not traveling over the ignitor like it needs to.

You may want to look at replacing the pump with a smaller one if you only need 6GPM. The 0011 is rated at 1.76A while the 007 is .71A. If you run the pump 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in one month at $0.10 per KwH, you would save over $8.50. You can purchase a 007 online for a pretty reasonable price. Just one way to maybe save some $$$$.

Seems low. Off of Taco website, it lists an 0011 pump at Flow Range: 0 – 28 GPM
Head Range: 0 – 30 Feet. If you aren't pumping the water uphill that much, you should be getting more than 2GPM. What size are the check valves? Is the opening in them restricting the flow?

New pot in for five weeks now. No signs of a bubble forming yet.

Boiler in automatic mode. Ignites around 10 times per day.

Thanks for the update Wil. I wish that Harman would get this one figured out.

I will keep this subject updated with the results with my new pot. I still have the finned ignitor. I think that Wil has been updated to the pressurized ignition system.

The holes are 1/8". Maybe .130

We can always hope that this will take care of the bubble problem. Mine looks fine yet, but it has only been in for a few weeks.

All of the holes are enlarged. It will be a few days before I can check the size of the holes.

Installed a SS burn pot a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that it had larger holes in it compared to the old one.

With the larger holes, the ignitor lights the pellets much quicker. With the old pot, it could take upwards of 6 minutes. With the new pot, it takes only a couple of minutes. This is with using the same ignitor.

All tuners are not created equal. I have two different brands of hdtv. The LG will drop the signal quite frequently during bad weather. The Panasonic is much better, it very seldom drops the signal.

It is possible that it is a problem with the tuner in the TV. Did you check with where she purchased it as to taking it back for another one?
