I agree with gods country, haha. Its probably a few years old. Not positive on the age but it was the guy who sells them. He's getting up there and I can assume is sick of hauling bags to it and wants something with less daily maintenance. I bought his father in laws for the same reason at a very reasonably price in january and love it. You can call him to find out for sure on its age he's in the phone book under spud land farms.

Oh and like you said I would definitely go with natural gas as well but up here in the sticks we have absolutely no infrastructure for it and propane is wicked pricey up here.

Yes it may have less btu/lb but like you said it's just magically hotter burning. And fingers crossed I've never had an issue with my clinkers, I just take out 4 or 5 black rice cakes a day burning on 8 24/7. I tried burning both straight and a mix of pellets in my first week because like you said because of the cost difference but there was so much more clean up involved so once I figured in the time for cleaning and great difference my stove was putting out the $2/bag difference was more then worth it to me in my situation.

My price I am paying on the corn is actually $300/ton due to someone else getting here from mass and storing it, but still not bad in my opinion since there are way more btu as opposed to wood pellets. And pellets are around $245/ton pretty well everywhere around here but I don't like burning any with the corn at all. Too much extra fly ash and I've had no problems with burning straight corn so I figure why monkey with it.

Five points is also the same corn I burn though I get it through a middle man up in the county. I enjoy that it is all cleaned and bagged and haven't had any problems so far with it at all.

My name is Evan I live in northern maine and I installed a bixby 115 the first of this past january and am very pleased with the savings over oil in my uninsulated old house (was previously burning min. 100 gal every 20 days during the heating season). I joined the forum ater finding out while researching the stove prior to purchasing and found it to be a good resource.

I have been in plumbing ever since I was a kid with my family business and it's definitely a plugged coil. You have two options. Option 1 is to pump the coil with acid like muriatic our condensed sulfuric (rather dangerous and makes for harsh breathing conditions without a respirator). Option 2 is to replace the coil which it's more expensive and you are very likely to break at least one of the bolts holding the plate to the boiler wish you then have to drill and tap it. Either option you take I would definitely call a professional and unless you also install a water softener it will happen again. Lastly you could go with your install an on demand or electric water heater.
