Im pretty much relentless when it comes to repair/matinence on my things, I just hate the idea of paying someone to service or fix something just because Im uneducated about how it works and how to fix it.Ive been fortunate to have mechanics and construction trades in my family so I havent really ever had to pay for labor on my vehicles or repairs on my house. You know, you buy the parts or materials and dad or uncle so-and-so will take care of it. Well, my husband isnt so handy and he catches on quickly with some things, but I was the one who was excited about the stove when we bought our place so all things Furnace and furnace related kinda became my project. I started from square one too, no manual or instuctions of any kind and very dirty and neglected. Lots of reading and soot and ashes in my face and blisters on my hands and few hundred in parts and I can give my gas company the finger! Last months bill- $32.76!!!

Ive run both corn and pellets through my 10 yr.old, but newly aquired Magnum 7500. Im currently using a 70/30 mix of both and I cant seem to get my draft and heat/stirrer speed settings right. No matter what I do it seems tat either A) the firepot overflows or fuel burns up too fast and the blower is kicking off constantly. I feel lik Im babysitting the thing way too much. Any and all suggestions or knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

TSC in Mt. Pleasant Mi has the best price I've found. 188 a ton out the door and loaded. You get whatever they've got and last month I got lucky and they had ProPellets. Usually its Indeck which suprisingly enough despite all the bad reviews I've read, my Magum seems to like. We've tried american wood fibers and those were okay but my furnace didn't tolerate Stove Chow so well. Its a suprise every time I go there. Pro Pellets are everyones favorite for a reason and I'm kinda kicking myself for not getting more when they had them for 3.88 a bag.

Good morning all! I am sooo happy to report that since I put in the new parts and babied this beast with a thorough cleaning its been working like a charm! I havent heard a peep out of my gas furnace in 2 days and even just running on the #2 heat setting, my 2600 sq ft is staying between 71-75 degrees and using way less fuel...close to 40 lbs a day less! My parents came for a visit and were shocked that my bio-beast was heating so well by itself! Take that gas company! Im kinda curious to see how itll do with straight pellets since my local TSC store has them on sale this week.... A HUGE shout of THANKS to all the warm and friendly burners who've shared their knowledge and experience!

My brand new $ 60 brickboard broke in about 4 peices when I was putting it in today. How do I make a mold of wood? Is the cement something that would generally be in stock or would a hardware have to order it? I like this idea and aparently I needed something quite a bit more heavy duty than what I wasted 60 bucks on today

UPDATE: I found my parts!! Homestead heating in Middleton had what I needed and fast! Tiny little place in the middle of nowhere. The only downside.....The brickboard broke in about 4 peices when I put it in. That was 60 bucks down the crapper and I'm pretty mad at myself right now Is there anything I cam use to put it back together? Will the high temp type tube cement work?

Sure cornking, that would be great! And thanks to all for the valuable info and a "warm welcome" ( ha ha ha, couldnt resist) . As I feared , the old burnpot finally bit the dust....came home from work to find it nearly in peices and all my fuel falling straight to the ashpan. And I think its past the point of more patching and plugging. RIP.....I think some of you will find this amusing

I have the " once bitten twice shy " approach to lazy, badly done work...which is kind of why I came here. Ive learned more about my furnace from forums and blogs than this guy did from whatever training he had...and aparently general business profssionalism or even just sheer common sence cant be tought to some ppl. It really frustrating that after much searching and many dead ends, hes the only dealer that has parts for the 7500.

Thank u tallcorn for the info. This a is a big, drafy old house and even though I think I should be getting more heat out of this thing, Im still pretty impressed with it. The stirrer actually just came out a couple of days ago. It seemed to work fine with just pellets, but not with corn. Sticky to the stirrer fingers and and smouldering out. Ive been to the website and called AES, and since they dont make them anymore, parts are getting harder to find. The only dealer/ service tech within 100 miles of me is real peice of work too, lI had the circuit board replaced in Oct, and this guy CUTS THE PLUG off of my table saw to replace the one on the furnace because he " thought there might be a short somewhere and had to check it". I cant bring myself to get parts from him.

Hello all,
This is my first year with a multi fuel furnace. It was in the basement of our home when we bought it in Aug. and I loved the idea of sticking it to my gas provider. It had been seriously neglected by the previous oweners and needed some tlc to get it going. After parts and a ton of research the 10 yr old magnum 7500 is up and heating, but not nearly to maximum efficiency. Its been many many hours of trouble shooting draft and fuel feed settings both manual and on the circuit board, lots of frustrating fixes on broken brickboard and a firepot thats nearly in peices, and some costly trial and error on fuel types (corn vs pellets) purchase locations and mixing ratios (corn with pellets). My parents have always heated with a cord wood furnace so Im completely ignorant of how these machines can be bi polar and a minor error can cause a major hastle. As of this moment, the status is as follows: the fuel is a mix of 50lbs corn and 4lbs pellets in the hopper at a time. I have pulled the wiring the stirrer and taken it out. Patched up the gaping warped and rusted - through holes in firepot AGAIN and re drilled the plugged holes AGAIN and am running the original cast iron peice of crap as stirrless. Its not working so well. Constant removal of both meteor sized clinkers and smouldering popcorn ones. It fills up fast and doesnt burn hot enough or thoroughly. The fuel feed is at the 7500 equivelent of high and the draft is also. Ive done enough to come to the conclusion that I need a clinker pot for this old thing. Thats pretty much the only thing I havent repaired or replaced because I cant find one anywhere and know nothing about welding! Plz do this newbie burnout a favor and point me in the right direction!!

This is my first year with my old magnum 7500 furnace and the firepot is litterally falling apart. Ive seen pics of some of the outstanding homemade clinker pots some of you have made and am in dire need of one. If anyone is wiilling to make me one, ill pay near what AES wants on their site. This single mom can change a tire but welding is far beyond my limit of being handy!
