Cant imagine what else there could be that would cause a jam. Ive never had a problem with the brand of pellet. The bushings you said you replace multiple times, were they worn or have nicks on them. I wonder is you dont have a bent auger??? I had auger troubles this year but it was as simple as jam but I had to remove the auger to fix it. If you bought the SF-50 NEW is it still under warranty, maybe you can get you a new one altogether as maybe you got a lemon. Good luck

I have the revolution and it does a nice job. My house is approx. 1400 sq ft with insulation and and new windows. It is an old 5 bedroom home. It stays right at 72 degrees on the coldest of Iowa days and nights. Usually sits on setting 3 when its gets cold. I use no T-stat. as I was told the only time I should consider the t-stat is in the early fall and and spring. The last 2 years should have had a t-stat all winter because its been so mild. The usual Iowa winter cost me around 700.00 to heat this house forthe winter and the last 2 years has been right around 500.00 last year and will be about the same if the wether pattern holds. I use no LP, I just wave at the LP guy when he goes to the neighbors. I would normally use about 4, 500 gal fills (1500.00-2000 dollars) in a winter, now I just top off once a year. I love the revolution

I got it taken care of, Just wasnt sure of what might pop up. I have the manual with parts list but I have manuals were it doesnt tell you thater might be a clip on the other end of a shaft or in this case an auger. Still waiting on the proper procedure to a get the scraper out to weld the rod back on but exploring other options to get by with it. The SF50 rev is a pretty basic build but I would a hate to get it apart and find that it wont go back the way it was. Also ran down some old post on the old forum and got some answers. Luckily my auger issue was a as simple as a pellet jam.

Auger jam has been fixed. Wasnt sure if there were any surprises like a spring or small part to fall out. However, Any tips on removing the scraper so I can get the rod tack welder. Health is not good so as little time that I have to spend on it would be great. Hate asking for help.Looks like I can take the whole right side but not sure what is beyond that.

I fired up the Rev last night and it loaded and pellets and lit fine. When it came to the hopper "A" auger to start, it appeared to start so I filled the hopper with pellets. shortly after the fire was out and the number one lite was flashing. I found no reference to the #1 lite in the manual. This morning I went back down and emptied the hopper and fired the furnace up and watched the initial feed from hopper "B" and then when hopper A was called to start, it would just move a little and stop but didnt go anywhere. Since it looks like there might be a jam up in the auger tube My question is how hard is it to remove the auger andare there any surprises I should be on the look out for? Also, what is the gasket made of on the motor flange? Ive cleaned all I could see and reach with a peice of wire. It will try to move but actslike its binding.

I asked the dealer about burning oats, wheat and other grains as advertized in the REVOLUTION SF-50. The question was; I can burn oats and wheat etc. in its out of the field form? In other words it does not have to be pelletized? His response was kind of a shoulder shrug and said as far as he knows, you can burn most any grain fuel as long as it will go thru the auger. Is there more I should know if I should try another fuel other than corn or pellets. I was pondering some ways to stretch my pellets. What experience have other had? Thanks!

Its just a sfc050 not the revolution. Where would this jumper wire be? Another thing i wonder about is for the wires running to the thermostat I had some telephone line laying around so i used that could this be the problem? I just figured its a solid copper small gauge wire.
If there was a jumper on it you would have found it at the tstat terminal. Not sure if the sf-50 has the 3 stat switches, also would be located at the tstat terminal. Not sure about using telephone wire tho.

I dug out my manual and this is what it says,
5. The thermostat slide switch allows the furnace to be run in three different modes...
a. Manual Mode, The control board controls all functions of the
furnace...
b.T-stat mode. The furnace is hooked to a tstat and when calling for heat the furnace will advance to the heat level set at the control board. Once the heat demand has been met the furnace will drop to the #1 heat level setting and pilot. The furnace never shuts off and provides constant heat...
c. Smart stat mode. The furnace is hooked to a tstat and when calling for heat the furnace will advance to the heat level set at the control board. Once the demand has been met the furnace will drop to the #1 heat level setting and pilot for 1 hour. If the tstat does not cal for heat during that hour the furnace shuts itself off and relights itself the next time the tstat calls for heat. This setting is best used early fall or late spring, when constant heat is not needed...
It might be that you are set on SMART STAT MODE (item c), in which case simple move your switch to the TSTAT MODE. The middle setting on your tstat switch.

Do you have the SF50 or the SF50 REVOLUTION? The reason I ask is because if you try to jumper the tstat on the revolution, there were some issues about frying the control boards. Do you have manual? If not maybe I can help if its a Rev.

I've had my SCF-50 for five years now. My house is 1700 sq ft plus 800 sq ft of basement in central Iowa. It dose good down to -15 then it needs help if it is windy out. then I run the wood burner or let the fuel oil help. I also have mine hooked in the duct work on the hot air side but not the return I just took an end cap off the cold air return in the room it gives it enough air. And I hooked it up to a thermostat that way it can cut back when the house is warm and not burn as much corn.
Hi there growcorn, I live Im in Iowa also. I have the SF50 REV. and love it. as far as my hook up, I simply tapped into my cold air return and didnt use any back draft damper. I fired mine up for the first time this year last night and and didnt hook up the tstat, it got plenty warm by morning, nearly 80. I shut it down due to no tstat and it was a balmy mid 50's through out the night During the colder months I dont need the tstat and it runs a comfy steady 72 degrees. Thats 72 no matter how cold it gets except on the coldest days I have to up the setting.

Actually it doesnt cost muich at all to run the lp furnace fan 24/7. It keeps the heat steady it seems.

I just tapped the Rev ductwork right into my cold air return ductwork and avoiding the backdraft damper. I then leave my furnace fan on full time. Going through the heat ducts requires a backdraft damper.

I believe mine runs more than 30 minutes after it runs out of fuel also but I think it depends on the wind after the fan does stop that I get a whiff of the smoke smell on occassion. However in a power outage the smoke can be prominent for maybe less than a minute I would guess. As far as the the cup of pellets in clean out area, that might just be a program adjustment or I find some when I clean that may just have hit the edge when it came down the auger.I dont think I would be concerned with some pellets,a cup or less every 3 days unless your burn pot is overflowing in which case adjustments are needed.

This is My 3rd winter with my revolution and as of late it will leave a smokey smell in the house after shutdown. When it shuts down the exhaust fan will run for 30 minutes or so. The smell comes after that shuts down. The smell comes out the air intake damper. I have noticed that if I put a clean filter in it does not happen for about 4 days. I will then change the filter and it is good to go for a few more days. I have cleaned the exhaust pipe, removed the exhaust blower and convention blower cleaning both. This did not help. It hard for mean to believe the filter is dirty in that short of time. Visually they look clean.
Also I have noticed about 1 cup of unburned pellets in the ash pan after about 3 days. This is not much but this has not happened before. These pellets are clean with no burn marks on them. I am not sure if this is related but all this started happening at the same time.
If anyone has experienced this or has an idea thanks for the help.
You will have a bit of a smokey smell if it goes into shutdown mode or a power outage occurs. Mine used to do the same thing but now if it runs out of pellets I have just a little smell but so maybe your nose isa littlemore sensitive to it. I acutually lost my sense of smell and taste 2 years ago so I sont know how strongit is for others but during a power outage, I will get a liitle smoke up the vents because the exaust fan shuts down also. As dndcoop says it might be your exaust fan is not up to the josb to do its thing after a shut down.

Lets see, you have your truck for sale and asking price is 20,000. You are gone but you tell your wife to make the sale if someone shows up and is interested. So your wife sells the truck for 2000,00 (she overlooked the last zero) One and she signs the title over the buyer drives away with a great deal. And you would be ok with this? One other thing, anybody who has investments that are diversified are likely to have stock in that company.I for one have stock in companies like these. I cant hardly jump up and down with excitement because someone made off with my hard earned money that I invested. But it happens everyday and not nessecairly Lowes but HD and others.

Thanks for the prayers, More test are going to bedone Monday surgery to follow maybe with in the week. Mother and 2 auntsdied of copd and I myself have had one battle with colon cancer and it was a nasty battle at that. I was going to get the all clear this MAY (5years cancer free). Ah well no matter what the out come its been a great ride. As for the fly ash my kids all adults and on theyr own questioned the health issues associated with wood burning but all I needed was a second opinion that there is no danger of ash or residue getting in the the heat ducts. I am going to burn pellets to my hearts content.
