I've had an Auburn for around 8 years now and it has been a great stove. The only part I've replaced in this time is the fan that circulates the room air. As any stove the routine maintenance is important. I've burned both pellets and corn in it without any problems. When using pellets you remove the fire pot shield and drop the ashes the same as a corn clinker.

I am curious why you had to replace the room blower. I assume it was bad, I guess my question is asked because I bought a used Auburn and the room air blower seems very week compared to my other stove(magnum countryside). Please let me know your experience. B

Hello all, boy am I glad to see the site back up and running! I bought another stove over the off season and visited the site to try and get some advice, I was taken back when it would not come up.

Eitherway glad its back online and looking forward to a good burning season, going to attempt to fire up the Magnum tonight if all goes well. I bought a St. croix Auburn and in the process of figuring what to do with it, it was to good of a deal to pass up. B

Somerset is the best you can buy in my area, the hardware up the road a bit is the closest place to find them. TSC which is a lot closer sells Michigan pellets which are decent but produce a lot of ash, so I will drive the extra bit to get the Somerset. I made a big mistake a few weeks back and found a guy who was selling "hardwood" pellets for a very good price, so of course I did not buy a few bags to try I bought a ton and of course after my wife helped me get all 50 bags to the basement I then found out they were the worst pellets I have had the pleasure to burn. The ash filled the pot like sand and the stove would only burn for approx. 3 hours. When I opened a bag it smelt strongly of pine(hardwood)? I will however commend the seller as he did take back every unopened bag for a full refund, after I carried all 47 bags form the basement. B

I have a leaf blower and have used it as you mentioned before, however I never opened the door. Why do you open the door? I can say i do not use the blower regularly. I cleaned the stove up very good Sunday afternoon and today being Wednesday I notice a big difference in the performance of my stove. I am burning Somerset pellets which are the best you can get around my area. This week end I will give the blower or "sucker" a try and see if it helps out. B

I am on my 4th year burning and I have never had the issues with the above mentioned that I have this year. I have to do a very detailed cleaning every week or the stove will not burn at its max. I still can not seem to get it perfect, and thats with using coat hangers up behind the burn pot, a shop vac, an ash vac and my bare hands. I just cannot seem to get it all. This is also the first year I have been burn't pellets only, and the stove seems dirty all the time to me. After 4 to 5 days of striaght burning I get a lazy flame, extremly dirty glass in minutes and less heat, clean it up and good to go again for 4 to 5 days. Any tips on how to get it cleaner and keep it that way, would be much appreciated. B

I am not using the stirrer pot after all, I tried with the clinker pot and it has been working great so I stuck with. Thanks for your help and sorry for the late reply. B

Well I finally have been burning for a week now. I decided to try the striaght pellets in my clinker pot and it is going very well, great heat and the best part is I have been able to empty the pot leave a small amount of hot ash in the bottom, close the lid and walk away. Very happy so far. B

Good to see or hear from you Tall!! I was wondering the same thing over the past 3 years I have been burning nothing but corn witht he clinker pot. I would mix in some pellets here and there but corn has been my main fuel. I dont like the idea of going back to my stirrer as the only memories I have of it are noise and a lot more cleaning. I will give the pellet clinker pot team a try. B

Hi Wes,

I will check into this, I do not think it should be an issue, as I only used the stirrer for the first season and then swithched to a clinker pot. With this heat wave coming to an end I better check it out. B

Finally got it loose at turning. Have to order a few parts, put the stirrer pot back in, and pick up a ton of pellets. By the looks of the weather the next few days its time. B

Hello everyone, I have been messing with my stove lately, due to the fact the price of corn is supposed to go through the roof I will have to resort to pellets and probably not much of them. Unfortunetly I have already paid a large propane bill and expect more to come. Okay to get to the point, knowing I will be burning mostly pellets this winter I tried to get my stirrer pot up and running and it appears the drive shaft is froze. Has anyone else experienced this and how did you fix this issue? Thanks B

Well said Tinman, I would agree I am also a union tradesmen. There is a misconception in this country that all unions support there members for laziness and 3 hour bar lunch's, however it is quite the opposite with my union, you do not show up and work, you do not have a job!!! Please do not let a few groups bad practices tarnish the rest of us hard working, family raising americans!!! B

I would like to thank all of ya for the help this season, I never really got my issues resolved, but I did manage to burn up a ton 1/2 of pellets and 150 bushell of corn.

I will be putting the 3500P in hibernation this afternoon, I am out of corn, no one close has pellets and the last few days of 50 Deg locked it up!

I will still be checking in to the site over the summer, as I finally hope to update my stove to something bigger. Not sure what that might be yet though.(might be wood)

Enjoy the warm months! B

I put the last bucket of corn in yesterday afternoon and the last bag of pellets last night. Now comes the decision do I get a small amount of corn in the wagon, buy a half pallet of pellets or call an end to a very frusyrating burning season?

And I must not forget to mention I am going to have to fill the L.P. tank soon!!! B
