Same here. I thought it was just my computer until I read this thread. Hope it gets worked out.
Just put my last bag of pennington pellets in my unit. Looks like I'm done whether I like it or not!! I've burned over 5 tons of pellets this heating season a record since we've Never burned over 5 that I can remember.

That is an Awesome Video OCCAM!!! Thanks for posting it!!! I take it that you are in agreement that the oceans are rising and Miami will have water in its streets by 2100. I would have to agree with this belief after watching a video by James Hansen. I'm very impressed with his knowledge. I don't think we have much to worry about in Arkansas in the near term but I do remember some stating that the ocean once reached the Ozark mountains here in our state. I guess if it rises that much we'll have to move there!
It's been fun watching you guys battle it out over global warming and ocean rise over the years. You and Xracer really get with it at times!!
Have a Good Easter Everyone!!

Hello Amigos!!
I've got a friend with a Quad AE and he is experiencing a flicker with his wall control when he goes to adjust it. When he starts to adjust it, it goes to wakeup. The stove is working but it has this crazy flicker with the wall conrol that he does not like. Kap and gang, is there a cheap fix like cleaning contacts or does it require a new wall control? The number on the back of the wall control cover is #7000-310.
Thanks,

For you guys that want to go to renewable energy for transportation, just build yourself a Wood Burner Truck!! www.driveonwood.com
There was a great article on driving on wood in Moother Earth News earlier this year and featured Mr. Wayne Keith from Alabama. Interesting article!! They have wood gas meet ups around the country so you guys may want to get into this other addiction!!! Neat idea it is of driving on wood. Back during World War II over a million vehicles, tractors, dozers, etc. ran on wood in Europe!!
Stay Warm!

Great job with the scope!! I read the same info about cleaning my mirror. I'm sure one day I will get the chance. The ten inch is a great scope!! I love mine.

I was DAMN lucky! I rarely find out about such deals until after someone else tells me about them.
Cleaning the mirror was actually very easy but you just have to be sure you have a good collimator ready to go. The guy's house that I got it from must have been a smoker's house because the mirror really had a heavy film on it. The mirror is very heavy. Basically, you take it out, put it in a sink of water with detergent and a BIG bag of cotton balls ready to go. You take one cotton ball and LIGHTLY swab ONE TIME from the center outward. Repeat about 100 times throwing each cotton ball away after one swipe. Then rinse it off and gently remove any water drops and you're done. I put a dot in the center of the mirror to help with alignment. Many mirrors have this but mine didn't. I did the diagonal mirror too but I don't think it really needed it.
I sure does suck up the light compared to my ETX! Almost blinded myself the first time I viewed the moon! I had a lot of trouble aiming the big sucker so I got a Telrad finder scope. Works great!!!

Hey AR, I got one of those 10" Dob's too! Orion version. Also have a 125 ETX Meade.
I saw the Orion on Craigslist for $200 so I went to look at it. Not a scratch anywhere. He brought out the $100 padded carrier for it, an upgraded finder scope, 8 lenses, two nebula filters at $99 each, two different types of collimaters (one is a laser) plus a half dozen colored filters (got plenty of those). I couldn't get the money out of my pocket fast enough!!!! The only thing I had to do was remove the mirror and clean it per instructions posted on the web and then collimate it. It's spot on.
That's exactly what I have "but" I paid way more than that!!! Sounds like you got a real deal. I must have well over $1,000 in mine with a good observing chair. I've been dreading the day when I will need to remove my mirror and clean it but I guess you didn't have any problems!
Great find & purchase!! Congratulations!!

AR - good to see you back! Ever get a furnace or are you still looking? I have a little left over corn from last year and been lightly mixing with pellets. I will probably buy a ton to mix with the boiler Dec - Feb, but we have the business up for sale, and don't want to be burdened with moving if we sell, and the new buyer doesn't want to mess with bio-mass.
Hi Nogas!!
Good to see you still alive here on the forum!! We have not gotten a furnace as of yet and if winters stay like they were last season, we really would not need one here in LA (lower Arkansas). We are planning on upgrading our insert to a higher btu M55 Enviro multifuel. For now it's on the wish list!!

Hey Kap & Gang!!
I've got a friend that is about to install an old Quad Contour that he bought dirt cheap!! He's planning on putting it in a corner at a 45 degree from the wall. My question is what is your preferred venting configuration? This is in a new house with 6 inch walls and hardy board/siding on the outside. A lot of people like to put a rise in the venting so if the power goes out it will vent out better. I've been thinking of just a 45 and straight out to a jet cap or maybe a cleanout within the house a slight rise and then straight out with a jet cap. I'm also planning an OAK with the ICC wall thimble with OAK.
He may eventually put a larger stove in its place maybe an Enviro M55 freestanding at 55k btu. I'm thinking of suggesting he put in 4 inch pipe at this time so to better handle the larger stove if he decides to do this upgrade in the future.
The reason I say this is one friend has a 45k btu Pacific Energy Warmland pellet stove and he's getting a little smoke on his glass that he says is not normal. I'm thinking of suggesting a change to 4 inch venting for him. He's got a mobile home and goes out the back of the stove into a ICC PCOT cleanout and up for about 15 inches and then a 90 degree elbow and straight out to a jet cap all 3 inch. Still not understanding why he says he's getting excess smoke on his glass after a good stove cleaning. More study for sure before the change.
Thanks,
AR

Anyone have any opinions about GMO's? Would you prefer Non-GMO food etc.?
Should Monsanto be allowed to sue farmers that have traces of their genes in their fields?
Are Monsanto hormones safe in milk?
Is organic farming a better alternative to conventional farming??
If this is not enough to spur debate in the middle of summer slow season, I don't know what will.
Take Care,

Hello All,
I know this does not relate to burning corn but it does relate to using biomass. If any of you get Mother Earth News, in the April/May edition there is an article about Mr. Wayne Keith who has improved the old syn gas/woodgas system design used during WWII in Europe for over a Million vehicles. He is now getting about 1.3 miles per pound of wood in his Dodge Dakotas. You may want to check out his website www.driveonwood.com
I found it very interesting and if someday oil goes way up there we could all benefit from this technology since we don't mind heating our homes with corn/pellets/wood etc.. What's the difference in lighting your stove and lighting your Truck????
Have a Great Summer Folks!!!
