I built a Frankenpot a few years back and it worked like a dream. When the price of corn went stupid I switched back to pellets and have been hoeing out the pot daily since then. I discovered that I have developed a tad of asthma and the pellet fallout is the chief culprit. Lesson learned keep the damned door closed and don't go digging around in there except rarely. That brought me back to the original issue and I put the original pot back in . Somewhere the welded a couple times stirrer got lost / tossed and I need a new one. I'm not even concerned it it's a cheapo cast either as with the pellets its a rather moot point anyways and if I go back to corn sometime the Frankenpot with clinker wire is going back in.
Anyways I did some looking around the net and can't find hide nor hair of them anymore, heck they used to be on Fleabay constantly. Even the AEI site was void of stirrers though they seemed to have everything else under the sun. I just want something that I can switch on a time or 2 a day and knock the ash down into the pan. Any words of wisdom? Tallcorn probably mass produce them in your attic...........

Clean, that's not in my vocabulary as I rarely even wipe off the window glass. I'm thinking a nice piece of heavy plate cast iron that is kicking around in the shop. If it works half as good as your Frankenpot that I copied using some heavier stuff a few years back it will work fine. My big concern was that it performed some sort of insulating duty. Ah I can see it's torch time and it's been a while since I created something. I can hardly wait. Thanks Tall.

After putting the broken halves on a backer a few years back the firebrick just finally bit the dust on my Countryside. Is there any reason besides looks that I need to have that on there at all and not just a metal home fabed cover plate of some sort? I don't care about the viewing as it's dirty all the time anyways and I just want function. So does it actually serve a purpose?

If you want to heat water with your stove maybe you should check out what this guy did. I saw him at Farm Fest 2010 in Minnesota and got a card from him. It seemed like alot of people were really interested. lol

I purchased this product and it works very well. During the winter I eliminate my electric cost for domestic hot water plus get double the heat out of the stove via the hot water. It is much better then the simple coils you see advertised.

I have been wondering about this myself. Tell me, how much more pellet tonage did you use getting this heat as opposed to before you installed it? Myself I turn down the stove to 50F for the living room at nite now and just use a small electric. The effect of that is to make my pellet usage go from 5 to 6 tons down to about 3.

They sometimes carry them in Tractor Supply here in NY. I have used them and to me they are just like pellets aside from a bit noisier feeding as they crunch along. Trouble is the price. They are way more which knocks them out of the running for the same old thing. I sometimes buy them when they are selling off the last of a batch at discount. One other thing to look for is they are very POOFY and don't stack well. Also note the weight of the bags is 30 rather than 40 lbs which again sort of knocks them out of the running mostly. They do stink outdoors in a rather unpleasant way unlike corn or pellets. Just my own experience here worth about 10 cents adjusted for inflation.

I caught Sams Club just right a couple weeks ago. Bought 4 tons of Pennington Natures Heat pellets for 189/ ton. They were selling off the last of their stock for the year. Good for next year now. Corn is way too high now around the NE.
